Hertz adds 5 transit connect electric vans to its fleet
Hertz Corp. and Azure Dynamics Corp. announced the addition of the innovative Ford Transit Connect Electric van into Hertz’s fleet, a first for the car rental industry.
The five Hertz units will be deployed mid-November at multiple locations as part of Hertz Entertainment Services and Hertz on Demand car sharing. The Ford Transit Connect Electric utilizes Azure’s proprietary electric powertrain system and Johnson Controls’ advanced lithium-ion battery to achieve a range of 50 to 80 miles depending on auxiliary usage and drive cycle and is rechargeable using either a 240-volt or standard 120-volt outlet.
S&C Electric brings switchgear solution to accelerate solar power plant project completion
S&C Electric Co. has introduced a switchgear solutions package to help solar plants reduce plant installation time and standardize plant designs. The standardized engineering services and switchgear package for the interconnection substation is ideal for solar plants up to 35 MW.
With this solution, solar power plants will cut switchgear lead times by up to 60%. The lead time reduction can greatly reduce the time to complete a solar energy project, reducing costs and accelerating return on investment.
The solution includes engineering services for the substation and S&C’s field-proven System VI Switchgear. S&C’s System VI Switchgear combines proven gas-insulated fault-interrupter modules based on S&C’s field-proven Vista Underground Distribution Switchgear.
China Ming Yang Wind Power Group unit signs strategic cooperation agreements
China Ming Yang Wind Power Group Ltd. subsidiary Guangdong Ming Yang Wind Power Industry Group Co. Ltd. has entered into a development financing cooperation agreement and a planning cooperation agreement with China Development Bank Corp. in Beijing, China.
Under the agreements, CDB is expected to support Ming Yang in its strategic and financial planning by granting Ming Yang up to US$5 billion in potential financings, including loans and credit facilities between 2011 and 2015, and by actively participating in the company’s medium-to-long term development planning.
The potential financings may be used for a range of potential domestic and overseas business activities including the company’s on-shore and off-shore wind power businesses, supply chain integration and working capital management.
Arista Power receives power on demand order from Zweigle’s
Arista Power Inc. has received an order from Zweigle’s Inc. for a power on demand renewable energy storage and management system to be installed at Zweigle’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Rochester, New York.
Arista Power’s power on demand system reduces electricity demand charges, which are based on a customer’s peak power demand on the grid and which can account for 30% to 70% of a commercial electric bill.
Arista Power’s patent-pending power on demand system utilizes energy generated by wind turbines, solar PV or the grid itself in conjunction with a custom-designed battery storage system and a proprietary real-time “smart monitoring” technology. The monitoring system is designed to smooth power demand on the grid by maintaining grid demand within optimal parameters and releasing stored power only during peak demand periods, thereby reducing peak demand charges, prolonging battery life and lowering commercial electricity costs.
