OMG, sorry, but what a tool! So what's bad for insects must be bad for humans too? Seriously, let's have some actual science here, rather than a neurotic reaction to the fact that a food source can have more than one use.. If you spray an insect with oil it clogs the pores (called spiracles) which it breathes through. Death ensues. Also, if you look at the second active ingredient on the Natria Bayer product, it's eugenol, (used for numbing toothaches etc) which comes from clove oil. It's a sodium channel blocker which stops impulse firing in nerve/brain cells, thus disabling the nervous system. It's powerful stuff, and you don't need much. Of course, much is a different quantity depending on whether you're an ant or a human. With regards to the warnings on the bottle, they're probably just standard warnings that companies use on all their insecticides, I mean, why revise your precautions/emergency advice for something safer? You can't get sued for being over-cautious can you?

this is disappointing, and very misleading. are you people that are saying good job to this video even paying attention?? I don't use, and know the dangers of, both canola and soy but this video is surprisingly silly. i look to this site often for information and now i am feeling like i might have to re-think that. it really does make everything you post suspect.

First time to the site. Some stuff is useful but this one is truly misleading. I have a few fruit trees and spray them with oil. I have found that any oil works. I've tried mineral oil, canola oil, and yes, olive oil. They all work. All you are doing with the oil is making it so that the eggs can't breathe. Specifically in fruit trees at least, you are targeting those insects that dig through the bark with a small hole and put in eggs. They are called borer insects. They don't hurt the fruit but they weaken the tree's health in general. Mostly when spraying, you are looking for an oil that doesn't require constant shaking. Because it is mixed with water at usually a tablespoon or two per gallon of water. And if all it does is sit on top, it means you have to constantly shake it. From experience, olive oil requires constant shaking. Canola and Mineral oil is a better as it stays mixed pretty well. I understand how concerning the label is and I am really very curious why it appears t

"SOY" - Don't forget the Toxic Waste byproduct Soy Lecithin that's in just about everything we eat. Soybean lecithin comes from sludge left after crude soy oil goes through a "degumming" process. It is a waste product containing solvents and pesticides and has a consistency ranging from a gummy fluid to a plastic solid. Before being bleached to a more appealing light yellow, the color of lecithin ranges from a dirty tan to reddish brown. The hexane extraction process commonly used in soybean oil manufacture today yields less lecithin than the older ethanol-benzol process, but produces a more marketable lecithin with better color, reduced odor and less bitter flavor.

Interesting, I get what Mike is saying, if there is 96% canola oil in pesticide, and the majority of the food supply has this in food, you can only imagine the harmfulness it is causing on the population. I don't need to know the 4%. He is making a point about the canola oil and the fact that this is in foods.

It would be a fair test to also try and kill bugs with coconut oil and olive oil, to confirm whether there is something toxic in the canola that is the mechanism for killing bugs. It could be that physical properties of the oil cause the bugs to suffocate rather than from a chemical toxin which is inferred here. I'd like to see a sequel with this test performed for fairness.

The big picture, regardless of the 4% / 96% questions is that there's an abundance of Soy and Canola available that's proven to be toxic as well as profitable, and companies don't care what we spray on our crops as long as there able to make a profit and support big Pharma. Canada Oil (Rapeseed Oil, Canola, Liquid plastic, an industrial lubricant) is proof that money is there game. EX: Sometimes there a need for a solvent to clean up a huge disaster, a company says "We need 10million gallons of solvent", but they only use 2million gallons for the job. They then sell the remaining 8million gallons to be bottled and sold as drain cleaner or something at an even larger profit than they purchased it. What started out as waste, became profits again.Regardless of what it will do to our drinking water down the road.

This is very interesting information but I do agree with FITnosis... what is the other 4% ingredients in the Year round pesticidal oil. For the Natria Bayer house product their is only 3% of soybean oil verses 96.75% other ingredients... what is the 96.75%. The info is just alittle misleading...

First, most oils simply kill insects by smothering the openings to their “breathing” tubes (they breath different than humans). Second, it’s the clove oil (Eugenol) in the second product that is toxic to humans. Third, the EPA requires special labeling for ANYTHING used as a pesticide. CAUTION is the lowest “label” if a signal word is required. These two oils require an EPA label of ‘caution’ because they can cause “ irritation” (eye irritation for soybean, skin sensitization for Canola) if exposed to it in large amounts. The label has generic pre-worded statements, and the first aid treatment for getting it on your skin (Take off clothing, rinse for 15-20 minutes, Call poison control) is the same for CAUTION, WARNING, and DANGER. For the REAL info on the specific substance you need to go to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). The MSDS for Canola oil and Soybean oil list no health risks. Furthermore, according to their ability to cause irritation: Olive, Coconut, Flax, and

Keep telling it like it is!!! This was a funny video. Pesticides PISS ME OFF!!

Oiy vay. I just about had a FIT when CRITTER CONTROL came over to a persons house near me and put out poison for the animals to eat. SHAME ON CRITTER CONTROL!!!!!!!!!

C´mon Mike, I waited for 6:40 minutes for you to show us the 4% ingredients and you didn't!! I don't and wouldn't use canola, soy or any other refined industrial oil, but label reading requires reading 100% of the label...really a poor vid this one, because of this. You usually do much better.

I agree with some of the other comments. You are not telling the full story, and that makes me suspect of you and anything you say. Canola and soybean oil are not pesticides--they are used in these products you show, along with other ingredients that actually are pesticides. For some reason, you conveniently and purposely do not list these other ingredients. If olive oil or coconut oil were mixed with these other ingredients, they too would become a pesticide product. The only reason they aren't used is that they are too expensive. Any kind of oil--If sprayed on insects, even without the added ingredients--would likely kill them. If nothing else, the oil would smother them. Olive oil and coconut oil or any other oil would also kill humans if we were dunked in it and couldn't breathe. Come on, get real. What is your agenda here? Perhaps to profit from the products you sell on your site by debunking other products? In my eyes, you are discrediting yourself by posting things like this.

Have you looked into whether it is the inert ingredient that is causing the toxicity, rather than the oils, you mention in the video. Oils have been used as pesticides since the Roman Empire (long before the introduction of Canola oil). Oils work by smothering the host and are used extensively in organic farming.

Mike - you're supposing based on hype that canola oil alone is a pesticide. What we don't know though is that the other 4% ingredients are - they are most likely the poison. Are we to assume that vanilla extract is poisonous to us too because it's one hell of a black gnat repellant? I agree that we shouldn't ingest it or any gmo crop or gmo crop extract and believe in using flax or coconut oil. But you're equating straight 100% canola - to 96% canola and 4% of we don't know what poison (from the label you show on the pesticide). This sir is misleading. It would be best to investigate what the 4% ingredient is. When I grew up on a farm we mixed pesticides in spray tanks all the time with 90% water. Are we to assume that all natural well water (an ingredient in pesticides) is now dangerous?

Hi Mike & EveryBody, Thanks for all the updates. With the pesticides the inert ingredients can be sooo toxic that even though it's 96% canola oil You should be very careful especially around children. BUT I think You are right that just the oil will do the trick in killing. Peace To All Love To All

Thanks for another great video Mike! If this doesn't wake people up I don't know what will. People get sick after eating and so many times they say "I must have ate too much", never thinking it could be the pesticides they just ate that make them feel sick.

haha this is an awesome video Mike!! awesome awesome job!! people need to know this stuff. :-)
