Thank you so very much Dr. Siegel!! I began a plant based diet eight months ago to help my autoimmune disease. I wish I would have seen this video before yesterday. Ironically, I ran into a Girl Scout and her mom who were selling GS cookies at the pharmacy where I was purchasing cards. In an act of compassion, ignorance, AND stupidity I bought a box of Thin Mints. I always read labels but this time I didn’t (mistake #1). Because I was so hungry (mistake #2), I bought a box and ate several cookies on the way home. A half hour or so later, my two mistakes (two too many) added up to a major mistake when I doubled over with stomach pain. Was this in connection to eating the cookies? I can honestly and emphatically answer YES. Since I changed my eating habits, my body has begun to heal and since become my radar to alert me when I have consumed something that is not good for me. To the person who says this does not “promote” bad eating habits – I respectfully disagree. It is true

Dr. Siegel, THANKYOU THANKYOU AND THANKYOU AGAIN!!! I have had the same issues with fundraisers. The last one was from a boy who was selling cookie dough to raise money for his school for exercise matts. I offered money instead and he had to decline. They told him ahead of time that the dough had to be purchased to count. I thought, I wouldn't even want that in the landfill!! Thankyou for addressing this issue. I was unaware of the labelling of the>.05Gm of transfat. THAT SHOULD BE ON THE LABEL. No matter HOW small the amt. I hear of kids eating BOXES of those things!! Sadly, it doesn't surprise me that you got no reply. The same thing goes on with grammar schools "market day" sales. The foods with the worst ingredients are marketed for and to children's snacks and foods. And the Kraft's Labels for Education also count only if you purchase and consume the foods with the worst offenders included in the ingredients. How sad. How sad indeed. Again, THANKYOU for addressing t

uhhh, yeah. The cookies are a fundraising item. An iconic one, granted, but still a method of fundraising. So, the important thing is the profit margin. Not making some societal statement that perhaps 8 percent of their buying public may care about, or becoming responsible for the daily living choices of households across America. No, they are cookies. As such, they aren't meant to be eaten daily, or as a mainstay of diet. C'mon doc, are any cookies actually healthy? You're blaming this product for promoting bad eating habits when that is far from the truth. This product has been brought up to a level of equality with other similar products, but no one expects them to be anything other than what they are; packaged cookies. It's no wonder you never received a reply, the only fitting one would be what I am giving you now and that isn't exactly good public relations. In the end, your problem isn't with them, McD, or any of the other places which actually serve toxic waste labeled as a mea

I have attempted to have this remedied as well, every year. I have been a Girl Scout leader for 12 years. You are so correct. I do not know how to get them to listen. They just keep pointing out how they are trying to go toward healthier cookies. We no longer sell Girl Scout cookies, as a matter of principle.
