I would say "whole food" instead of "food-based". I bought some prenatals from my local health food store once because they said they were "food-based" on the bottle, only to find out much later while reading the FAQ on their website that they were actually totally synthetic vitamins in a "food-based" binding. Basically the only part that was food-based was the stuff holding the pill together. Then they went on to explain that synthetic vitamins are just as good as whole food vitamins because the amounts found in the blood are the same. Very tricky. You can bet I'll never be buying anything from that shady company again!

Very good information, chemical vitamins suck ...use real natural liquid vitamins/supplements
