The TSA has stolen stuff from my checked in luggage, but NEVER from my carry-on! How could they? I am carrying it and if they check it, I am there looking at it. I would have to be blind! And sorry Mike but this video is totally lame! Takes a minute to cut any of those lose; zippers can be opened in a split second with a ball point pen... etc. This one?... Hum... Not worth the time spent watching it!...

I love the idea but the TSA is all about excess and too often, they lack basic judgement. Isn't it simpler to travel with a hand bag with all these expensive things, in it?

I realize that the point of this vid is to prevent a "quick grab" ... but can't the "loop" attached to the camera or similar device simply be cut with scissors or a knife? It is, after all material ... "Kryptonite" cable so it "can't be cut" but the loops can be cut.

I believe that all carry on items must be viewable - if you ziplock a small bag and then run a cable thru it - TSA dummies won't be able to confirm that there is no BOMB in the can't get into , can't see whats in it bag So clear bags ? Your idea might need a little tweaking

The system would certainly prevent theft, however, it's not legal - at least at the airport closest to me (BDL - brandley international airport). They have a strict policy that *nothing* can be closed with a zip-tie. If it is, it will be confiscated. I suspect that if that little box with the zip tie was on the cable lock loop - they would take the entire loop! I learned this first hand last year when they took my daughters entire makeup box that was zip-tied closed to keep it from coming open during turbulance. The pointed out the policy (which was on a visible sign) and took her entire makeup case.

Thank you! This is, sadly, valuable information at this point in time.

Mike: Don't TSA agents occasionally require that you "power up" electronics? Also, if your smartphone or kindle is in turn, in a bag that's been secured with cable ties and then zipped up and run through the cable system of securing everything and these guys require that you turn on one of the units might that not complicate things? Don't get me wrong. I'd like to do my utmost to stymie whatever interventions these people might attempt to otherwise impose on me. Thanks.

If they decide to go through your stuff, won't this annoy them? Couldn't you miss your flight while they go get some "fingernail clippers"? I wonder if you've had any experience with this. Thanks.

Excellent idea Mike, thanks!

Great idea, but what if the TSA goons demand you open the box or bag? Won't they want to look inside closed containers?
