Video Information

This is the now-famous video that was censored by YouTube. It shows Whole Foods employees LYING about the GMOs being sold by the store.

Fact: Whole Foods is a massive retailer for Monsanto's GM corn, which is found in all sorts of products on the shelves at Whole Foods. This is the same strain of genetically engineered corn that French researchers recently linked to massive cancer tumors in rats.

As of this writing, Whole Foods has offered ZERO support for Proposition 37 and has made NO effort to require GMO labeling for the products it sells.

What a BS video. There is no deception here. I've shopped at WF for years and know that they sell GMO foods. This is why they advertise their NON GMO brand. It's pretty obvious that if a food does not offer this label, that it might be GMO. Their employees have never tried to hide this when I spoke with them.

Perhaps I am a little late to the party, but I just found this video. First of all, I echo comments from others who are of the opinion that this 17 minute video is rife with misleading information and gross errors. In essence it is merely an ambush/propaganda piece. it is quite unfair to whole foods and discredits naturalnews as any authority. What is odd is that no one actually talked to a buyer or manager - or god forbid, whole foods quality standards department for authoritative information. Or is it more sensational to forgo all that and just ask employees who are not trained in the nuances of gmo's/organics- or wf's product mix? The video claims that WF carries up to 30% gmo's, but how about getting some fairer comparisons and go ask another grocery store and find out their percentage numbers? Too difficult, eh? WF has done more to promote and encourage organics and gmo-free food longer than anyone (via non-gmo verified). And it might also be important to consider wh

We need to not focus on the cashiers and stock boys/girls. They are at the bottom of the problem, most don't even know about GMO's. The company ex's do though. They bought the GMO's to stock the shelves and they put up the false advertising to hide it. We need to talk to the Managers of the store and then talk to their bosses. Climb the corporate ladder with complaints till we reach the responsible parties and make them fix their errors. They can pull the products from the shelves, make labeling GMO's happen over night. They could at least make a list available at the door of each store that contains all the GMO's sold in the store. They could do all of this overnight if they had too. But they don't have to cause not enough of us are standing together and demanding that they do. I love what "Witepanthur" said about bombarding them with questions as to why they're not supporting labeling GMO's. We must be the change we wish to see in the world. Don't just watch this video, do something

I'll start with the negative because ultimately it's an effective video. Just some constructive criticism so they can do better next time. I agree that Whole Foods should do more to fight GMOs, but this video itself is pretty deceptive and also overly dramatic. I always do my own research instead of asking employees, and by the way I've never had much problem avoiding GMOs (as well as pesticides) because I always look for the organic (though it is annoying when the 365 brand is not organic and looks too similar). There's no proof that employees are lying as opposed to just not knowing what they're talking about. The video also provides no proof that WF trains their employees to lie. And the video is in fact posted on youtube by at least 3 different users from what I found from just a quick search and one of them even has 36,679 views. WF did indeed publicly support Prop 37 and as for not contributing $ well I don't think there should be *any* corporate money in politics, so unfortun

If wholefoods is on twitter, we should bombard them with questions as to why they are not supporting gmo labeling...
Posted 10/10/2012 6:45:45 PM
I'm 100% on your side, but someone needs to ASK Google & Youtube for $ support on Yes on 37. Their employee cafeterias are progressive in terms of food ethics: organic, sustainable, non-factory farmed, etc. Someone in the executive ranks seems to care about food quality. It would be more effective to create a partnership with YouTube vs blaming the messenger. I'm guessing the video was censored bc of the hidden camera which violates the privacy terms of filming without consent of the subject. YouTube has a lot of Yes on 37 videos up and I'm guessing they are on your side.... someone needs to ask them for support before throwing them under the bus. In regard to Whole Foods, none of this info is a shocker to me. If a product is made with corn or soy, I assume it's a GMO item. The employees on the floor most likely making low wages should not be the target, it's the executive staff that matters in terms of policy. Educate consumers on "buy this, not that" and we will vote with ou

I have a question about the accused employees. Were they trained to give those answers? Do they actually know their product, or are they poorly trained shelf stockers and register clerks that known next to nothing about food, health and what the store is actually selling and just assuming those are the correct answers? I question the legitimacy of this video's accusations of intentional false advertising. I've been to a few Whole Foods in the bay area and colorado, and as with any grocery, you can't assume anything is organic unless clearly marked. Whole Foods does not imply organic, it implies they specialize in selling more "WHOLE FOOD" which they do. Yes they sell some processed and even non organic food (and by the way people, if it went through a machine and was turned into something and stuffed in a box, it's NOT A WHOLE FOOD, and probably not that good for you, but what Whole Food stores sell is better than most the mainstream processed food out there.) My thoughts are many of t

.Isn't that what the fight is all about. Nobody knows what has GMO's in it. They just sound mad because Whole Foods didn't give them any money.

This could go viral...but I could have missed a point or two, still... Judging from the movie I cant draw a CLEAR LINE from the accusations of deliberate misinformation and on to the statements from the staff. I actually think that the staff commented very honestly on the questions, not hiding what you accuse them for. This video would be much more trustworthy if you actually got the CEO or someone high-positioned to say something suspicious! The part about money seems legitimate enough if you would include a link to all sources at the end of the movie (to concentrate information and because not everybody wants to read the article themselves or manually dig out the sources themselves) If you want to come through with your message I think you need to improve a bit on some of these points ;-) Or, well, that's just my humble opinion. Have a nice weekend :-)

Wow, so interesting to see the Whole Foods liars out in full force, intent to deceive the public ! IF Whole Foods was honest, they'd contribute to Prop 37, PERIOD. So marconi1026 and AndyW : I'm calling you both out. The bait and Switch Whole Foods uses to con the public into buying products containing GMO ingredients is UNDENIABLE. Let me make it clear : Prop 37 IS JUST THE BEGINNING. We're coming for YOU Whole Foods. We're coming for YOU for selling adulterated foods and misrepresenting it as "Natural" and "Organic". We're coming for YOU for LYING to us all these years. Your claims to care about informing the consumer about exactly WHAT is IN the crap you sell us is an outright, overt LIE. It's FRAUD. And we are coming for you. This is just the beginning. You can be pro consumer, or you can keep lying and defrauding the public by selling fraudulently labeled GMO containing products labeled as "Organic". You can put your money where you LYING corporate

Genetically Engineered Foods Our goal at Whole Foods Market is to provide informed consumer choice with regard to genetically engineered ingredients (also known as GMOs or Genetically Modified Organisms). Clearly labeled products enable shoppers who want to avoid foods made with GMOs to do so. Accordingly we offer a growing array of choices in our stores by sourcing our 365 Everyday Value® food products to avoid GMOs, by supporting organic agriculture (which prohibits the use of GMOs), and by encouraging other food producers to offer non-GMO options. When developing our national store brand food products under the 365 Everyday Value® label, we work with our manufacturers to source non-GMO ingredients. In July 2009, we began working with the Non-GMO Project to verify and label our store brand food products using the nation’s first authoritative standard for Non-GMO products. All of our 365 Everyday Value® food products are enrolled in the Project, and you can find a list of verified

This video is very deceptive and rife with sensationalism, exaggeration, guess work, and down right falsehoods. I don't know where to start but I guess I'll start with this grade school hidden camera gotcha of talking to team members and asking them questions that 90+ percent of Americans would have no idea the answer of. Whole Foods employs over 60,000 people and there is no educational requirement to work there. You don't have to be a biology major, Whole Foods will hire anybody. Whole Foods hires people with tattoos on their face. The grocery store industry is a high turnover industry. At Whole Foods, just like any other grocery store, you have employees constantly coming and going, and most of the people who seek out jobs at Whole Foods are just looking for a job. Whole Foods certainly employs a lot of people that believe in organic healthy food and love shopping there, but it also hires lots of people who don't care about eating healthy and shop at Safeway. Is it really

"It might be one ingredient that has a fraction of it"????? Who in their right mind would actually believe a word this ding dong says? Even the honest ones are full of it and don't seem to have any idea what they are talking about (this is not just Whole Foods, though--I actually rarely find ANY store employee who knows ANYTHING about what their store sells--that's why I do my own research and shop mostly online these days). The problem is people do not "call them" on their b. s., but just accept it and don't seem able to separate the "chaff from the wheat". That is the real problem with the public today. They are just as eager to accept the line of crap from the government, as they are from these employees who totally make "sh--" up. Very few of these employees had one statement come out of their mouth that wasn't b. s., even the "honest" ones. Such is our world today---accept the crap and live with it. Anyway, I will never, ever shop at a Whole Foods store again. In f

Someone also told me they cook with canola oil- an oil used in pesticides. No wonder I THREW UP when I ate at their bar once.
Posted 10/3/2012 8:05:05 AM
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if WHOLE FOODS has cops at their store, that MONSANTO is tied directly into it. Also, you can't have such a huge store and sell non-GMO food to millions of people. That is just not possible, I don't think.
